An Eyelid Lift - is it a good idea?

When your eyelids start getting hooded or droopy it means you are growing older. For people wanting a solution, they usually turn to surgery on the eyelid (blepharoplasty).

What this surgery does is that it gets the contour of the eyelids back into shape and thus the bags below the eyes are given their old shape. But do not be mistaken that it shall rid you off one's wrinkles. For that the Botox treatment is a good remedy.

Usually, puffy lower eyelids or/and droopy upper ones in most cases happens to be genetic and continues to be carried amongst the family's male & females both. What takes place is that the skin of the eyelid becomes weak and fall as we grow with old age. Thus also causing the muscles in the region of the eyes to weaken.

When a chubby pad starts to move in the opposite direction leaving the bone of the lower part of the eye thus causing it to droop, this is puffiness of the eyes. Sagging in the higher part of the eyelids cause hooding above the eyes, which happens because of heavier & fuller lids.

It can happen to anyone including you and you too could consider going through eyelid lift, would you like to know more prior to taking a firm decision?

The process is quite simple. The surgery may take place by giving anesthesia to the patient, which can be termed to being a conscious sedation. It makes you have fallen asleep neither are you unconscious. As you are a undergoing a small surgery it is highly possible that you be called in as a day long patient, and once the operation has been conducted and you have regained complete consciousness you will be allowed to return home the same day.

Eyelid - Lower Part

There are various different ways in which a cosmetic surgeon will conduct the surgery, while the most wide spread form of doing the surgery is where a cut is made along the line and below the lower lashes. What he does is that he will pick up the skin & muscle and shall peel off a little extra fat content. Then extra skin & muscle is too removed for that area.

Incase of the underneath eyelids only being affected then that will be trimmed from within the eye sans any noticeable scar.

Eyelid - Upper Part

Herein a circular cut is made across the eyelid pleat. The cut happens to be in the outline of your eyelids. The surgeon creates an artificial outline so that he knows exactly where he has to remove the extra skin from eye area.

Thereafter the extra skin lying on the above eyelid is similarly outlined and if there happens to be any extra fats that have accumulated there then that too is removed giving the eye an overall better appearance. The cut is naturally closed and since it was all on the higher eyelid once you open your eyes it will not be viewable.

The surgery time is usually between one to three hours after which you are free to go home.
