Cosmetic Surgery – Post & Pre Surgery

Some people are of the view that the day they wish to have cosmetic surgery of whichever kind all they would need to do is call up a surgeon and fix a convenient date. But that’s not that way it gets done. There happens to be a proper way to go about it and that could be lengthy.

1) Photos before the operation

The first thing that the surgeon will require from you is a few photos prior to the operation, which will be the stepping-stone for planning the surgery. There is a lot of importance as the photographs are an important tool of this whole process. It allows to you document what you were prior to the operation and then after it gets completed.

Since it is such an important tool most clinics have arrangements to for clicking these photographs there at the clinic itself, usually 6-8 photographs are taken at a stretch immediately.

2) Essential Tests

It is a routine that there shall be pre-surgical medical tests that will be carried out on the patient so that other than what the patient is complaining about there happen to be some other symptoms or things that prevent the surgery from taking place can be established.

Incase the patient is above 40 years of age then an ECG is mandatory. Quite a number of physicians would ask for a pregnancy test. And if you happen to be a smoker then an X-ray would be asked for.

Prior to any cosmetic surgery you will be best served if your health is in the best of condition. As even a slight respiratory infection could put on hold the surgery for which you have prepared all this time.

3) Medication

Prior to the approaching of the surgery, the onus is on you that you share all your medical condition and the medicines that you are currently consuming be it vitamins or herbal remedies. You are about to trust him for a big operation so you need tell him about these things.

He might strictly advice you to discontinue the following: alcohol, any pill that’s contraceptive in nature, ibuprofen or even drugs containing aspirin content, as all these medications make the blood thinner. The surgeon shall hand over to you an encompassing list that you will have to take care of avoiding in all conditions.

Post Operation

It can happen that you might feel some dizziness and other feeling might creep in post the operation, not to worry you are fine but you have to move slowly and not pick up heavy things for a few days only. It is important that is such a situation someone who is close to you stay by your side in the immediate 24 hours post the surgery. All the directions that have been given by doctor should be followed.

Upon reaching complete rest is a must. Ask your aide to do all the things, which make you most comfortable from requesting for comfy cushions, & pillows to nice ventilation of air, you need it.

All the stitches must remain dry. Bathing and showers are permitted after 3 days have past the operation. You can put to use loofah for getting rid off itching.

Rest is what is required most post operation. Do not get excited too early and start demanding exercise, let the body adjust well and get back the strength that way you'll enjoy more.

Once the surgery is over would be in need of assistance of relative or a close aide so that on discharge there is someone to pick you up. Now that person is only going to be known to you.

Either a month before or even earlier than that you should start taking health and food precautions, like healthy refreshments, ice packs, low-salt food, glossy magazines, extra pillows & entertainment DVD's. These will help you keep steady post surgery.
